Researching High Schools |
Call 718-246-7900 ext. 343 for more information on the high school selection process and to find out about schools that may interest you or your student!
Once you have narrowed down your high school choices, it is important to research each school. Listed below are a few ways that you can find out more about your various school options. 1) Thoroughly read about the high schools that interest you in the High School Directory. 2) Visit each high school’s web page on the Department of Education website at http://schools.nyc.gov. On this website you can also access school report cards. 3) See what parents and students have to say about the schools you are interested in at www.insideschools.org. 4) Call the school to speak with the guidance counselor and/or arrange a tour or interview. 5) Be sure to attend any High School Fairs, Information Sessions, or Open House events that are offered. By attending such events, you can learn more about the school in person and get a feel for the actual travel route you would take to and from the school.
